Weatherproofing
Flashings Install
Corrosion resistant flashing is required over windows, doors, Soffits and other openings.
Flashing should have a minimum 75mm upstand.
Fix flashing at 300mm centres.
Install Hardie™ Weather Barrier
Unroll the Hardie™ Weather Barrier horizontally with the printed side facing outwards. Make sure it sits 25mm below the bottom of the frame.
Pull the barrier so it’s taut and flat along the frame.
Fix with a galvanised staple fastener every 450mm per stud.
Overlap Hardie™ Weather Barrier 150mm on horizontal joints.
At vertical joints, overlap the weather barrier by one stud bay.
Extend the barrier a minimum of 150mm around corners.
Make cuts in the Hardie™ Weather Barrier where the door and window openings are.
Make sure the barrier extends 100mm on both sides of the opening.
Staple down and apply a suitable sealing tape over joints and cuts.
Check the barrier for tears and holes, and repair with sealing tape.
When direct fixed apply behind every vertical sheet join, fix a continuous strip of 50mm EPDM foam back sealing tape to the Hardie™ Weather Barrier along the stud.
